Bill Gerety Joins Turbett Surgical as Chief Commercial Officer

New hire held senior sales and marketing positions at Boston Scientific, Smiths Medical, and Akili Interactive.

Turbett Surgical has appointed Bill Gerety as chief commercial officer (CCO) to spearhead global commercial operations, drawing upon his prowess in accelerating institutional growth and navigating complex corporate transitions.

Gerety’s appointment is timed with Turbett Surgical’s attempt to scale from an angel-backed, regionally focused company to a private equity-funded, global organization. Gerety most recently served as CCO at Solmetex LLC, where his leadership was defined by rapid market expansion and the firm’s successful sale.

The appointment reunites Gerety with President/CEO Kevin Danahy; the chief executive recruited Gerety to Solmetex six years ago as vice president of Marketing and Sales, a move that set the stage for years of unprecedented organizational and commercial growth.

“Having recruited Bill to Solmetex, I saw firsthand his ability to build world-class brands and execute cutting-edge commercial strategies,” Danahy stated. “After Bill and I successfully scaled and sold Solmetex and I moved into leadership at a new company, I stayed close with Bill and watched with pride as he drove continued success at Solmetex. His evolution into a leader has been remarkable, and I knew that when the time was right to scale Turbett Surgical with speed and impact, Bill was the only choice. His arrival is a massive win for our partners and the healthcare providers we serve.”

Gerety is recognized for his ability to scale medical technology companies with exceptional speed. Before Solmetex, Gerety held senior marketing and sales positions at Boston Scientific, Smiths Medical, and Akili Interactive. Most notably, he was vice president of Marketing at Sirtex Medical Inc., amid a significant acquisition. During his tenure at private equity-backed Solmetex, he earned a reputation for operational excellence, culminating in his pivotal role leading the company through a significant secondary transaction and the acquisition and integration of three adjacent organizations in his role as CCO. His expertise is in identifying market inflection points and building the commercial infrastructure necessary to capture them.

At Turbett Surgical, Gerety will oversee the integration of sales, marketing, and customer success, applying his “high-velocity” growth model to the company’s suite of sterile processing solutions.

“I am incredibly excited to reunite with Kevin and join the visionary team at Turbett Surgical,” Gerety said. “My time at Solmetex was an incredible journey of scaling a business and seeing it through to a successful second transaction. I am eager to take all those learnings—the discipline, the speed, and the strategic focus—and apply them here. Turbett Surgical is at a tipping point in the industry, and I look forward to leading this next chapter of commercial excellence as we fundamentally improve surgical workflows.”

Turbett Surgical is a medical equipment company that manufactures mobile sterilization pods and consumable filters that facilitate highly efficient surgical equipment sterilization. Located in Rochester, N.Y., Turbett’s Instrument Pod is proven to make the operating room and sterile processing dramatically more efficient, freeing up time for sterile processing and clinicians to focus on essential tasks, according to the company.
